Keep the blue side up

My daughter Hannah went to EVERLAND!!!!
From her email:
“That’s right brothers and sisters, I did it. I went to Korea on my mission and I found the closest thing to Disney I could. I’d call this mission a success (but for other reasons, hehe).

We had to get special permission from President because one of our investigators wanted to take us. And she knew a cast member so she got us in for free!!! Lulz! They call them cast members and guests there, too. I know this because there were English signs. Practically everything was in English.

I took a million pics, don’t worry ^^ The only contingency from Pres was to not ride anything dangerous. We barely rode anything at all because there were so many people but I’m not even mad! It’s the smells and music and the atmosphere I wanted to see. The reason there were so many people is because today is a national holiday… Buddha’s birthday! Happy birthday, Buddha!”

My daughter Hannah’s mission!

On the way back from picking up my daughter in Korea, we want to stop in Tokyo, Guam, and Honolulu.
Dreamers gonna dream.

Lotte World is a major recreation complex in Seoul, South Korea. It consists of the world’s largest indoor theme park (a Guinness World Record) which is open all year around, an outdoor amusement park called “Magic Island”, an artificial island inside a lake linked bymonorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities, and movie theaters all in one place. Opened on July 12, 1989, Lotte World receives over 8 million visitors each year and is considered along with Tokyo Disney Resort as one of the world-class theme parks in Asia.

Wonder if we’ll have time to see this when I go pick up my missionary daughter in Korea next year.

Someday, I will visit this land.

Changdeokgung Palace, built in 1395 and one of the “Five Grand Palaces” built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty, was heavily damaged during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Currently, only 30% of the Palace structures remain.
Changdeokgung was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 as “outstanding example of Far Eastern palace architecture and garden design” being exceptional because the buildings are “integrated into and harmonized with the natural setting.”

Reblogging this so I remember to add it to the list of Things To See In Korea When I Go Pick Up Hannah From Her Mission. And also because I wouldn’t mind having a pair of doors like that myself.

Wallpaper, an international magazine focused on design, fashion, travel, and entertainment, profiled 10 territories around the globe with 20 reasons to visit each in their November 2010 issue.

And guess what? South Korea [where my youngest daughter lives!] made the cut.
