I just finished Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, the first book in the Hemingway book club my daughter and I started. There are so many things I want to say about the themes, the writing style, so many passages I’d like to quote, but mostly I just wish I could reach into the pages of the book and take the bottle away from him.

This was Brett that I had felt like crying about. Then I thought of her walking up the street and stepping into the car, as I had last seen her, and of course in a little while I felt like hell again.
